At Latin Routes, our passion for travel goes hand in hand with a deep respect for the destinations we share. This month, our team came together for a meaningful cause, hosting an office bake sale to raise funds for the Galápagos Conservation Trust, including support for the inspiring Save the Manta Rays project.
The Galápagos Islands are one of the most extraordinary wildlife destinations in Latin America, known for their unique biodiversity both on land and beneath the surface. Among the most captivating marine species found here are manta rays, elegant and intelligent creatures that play an important role in ocean ecosystems. Despite their size and strength, manta rays are increasingly vulnerable due to threats such as fishing, pollution, and climate change. As part of our Galápagos month we thought the project was a worthy cause.
Through the Save the Manta Rays project, the Galápagos Conservation Trust is working to protect these remarkable animals. The initiative supports vital research, tracking, and conservation efforts to better understand manta ray populations and safeguard their future in the waters surrounding the islands.
Latin Routes bake treats to raise money
Our bake sale brought out the creativity of the team, with a tempting spread of homemade cakes, biscuits, and sweet treats. From classic favourites to more inventive bakes, there was a real sense of enthusiasm across the office, all in support of a cause closely connected to the destinations we love.

This year’s fundraising is especially impactful as the Galápagos Conservation Trust is partnering with Big Give’s campaign from 22 to 29 April. During this period, all donations made through the campaign page are matched by the Big Give Trust, effectively doubling the contribution.
The campaign aims to raise £22,400 in support of the Save the Manta Rays of Galápagos project, helping to protect these gentle giants and the marine ecosystems they depend on.

Thanks to the generosity of the team, we were able to raise valuable funds and contribute to this important initiative. It was also a great opportunity to come together, share our passion for Latin America, and reflect on the importance of protecting the natural environments that make these destinations so special.
Supporting conservation initiatives is an important part of responsible travel. The Galápagos continues to inspire travellers from around the world, and projects like Save the Manta Rays play a vital role in ensuring its marine life continues to thrive.
