The Area

The main places to stay in Rio are on Copacabana or Ipanema Beaches. Both of these areas have a lively atmosphere with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. Of course they also have the beach which is very much the focal point of each area. Rio's main attractions and the downtown area can be reached easily from both locations. Another area is Santa Teresa, which is a colonial Portuguese district in the hills above the city.

Best Time to Go

Rio is famous for being sunny all year round and temperatures reach up to 30°C in summer time (Nov - Feb). However being a tropical climate summer can also bring some rains too.
