It is a natural fit if you love being on or near the water, with days that balance gentle adventure, wildlife spotting and time to simply slow down and enjoy your surroundings.
Your journey begins at Apoyo Lagoon, a vast volcanic crater lake edged by a nature reserve, where calm waters and forested slopes create an easy first taste of Nicaragua’s outdoor life. From here, you continue to the Pacific coast for a stay at a high-end eco-lodge, with plenty of optional activities on hand, whether you are keen to explore, get active, or unwind between nature-filled days.
To round things off, you head inland to Lake Nicaragua, staying at an eco-lodge on a private island within Isletas de Granada. This is a wonderfully relaxed finale, with the choice to hike a volcano crater trail, kayak around the islets, or switch off with spa time, all with lake views never far away.

Days 1-2 UK – Managua
Depart the UK and arrive the following day into Managua, where you’ll overnight in the country’s vibrant capital city.
Days 3-4 Apoyo Lagoon
Transfer to Apoyo Lagoon, a huge crater lake believed to have been formed around 20,000 years ago. Your first afternoon is free to explore the area at your leisure, relax by the pool, or take a dip in the lake. The following day you have a guided walk within the nature reserve, where you may see hummingbirds, iguanas and, if you don’t see them, you’ll likely hear howler monkeys. Enjoy the spectacular views of the lake and end the tour with a refreshing swim.
Days 5-7 San Juan del Sur
Drive south toward San Juan del Sur, located on the Pacific Coast you’ll be staying at Morgan's Rock Hacienda and Eco-lodge. This barefoot luxury property is focused on sustainability with much of the surrounding forest protected as a private reserve. You can pick an excursion each day from a wide range available, including several jungle hikes, a night walk, kayaking through the mangroves, bird-watching or get involved in their reforestation project.
Days 8-9 Isletas de Granada
Depart Morgan’s Rock and journey north to Isletas de Granada. You’ll have a quick tour of Granada to see the San Francisco Convent and La Merced church, with its fantastic views over the city, lake and surrounding volcanoes, before continuing to the port for a boat ride to Jicaro Island Lodge. Isletas de Granda is an archipelago of over 300 small islands and this private island lodge is an excellent place to relax and rejuvenate at the end of your holiday. In the morning of day 9 hike the Mombacho Volcano crater trail where you may spot sloths, monkeys or dart frogs. From the top enjoy the fantastic views of Las Isletas archipelago and Masaya Volcano. The rest of your time is free to relax.
Days 10-11 Managua - UK
On day 10 you will be transferred from Isletas de Granada to Managua airport for your onward flight and will land back in the UK on day 11.
Alternatively, end your holiday to Nicaragua on the pristine beaches of the Corn Islands on the Caribbean side of the country.
