Quick Itinerary
Peru Gastronomy 12-Day Itinerary
Days 1-3 UK - Lima
Arrive in Lima, the Peruvian capital, a modern metropolis full of history after your overnight flight from the UK.
Start your second day in the bohemian district of Barranco where you'll stroll the streets visiting modern and traditional places, and enjoy a typical Peruvian breakfast. Your tour continues to a local market where you'll see all sorts of fruits, vegetables, meats and fish available. You then visit a restaurant to learn how to make the traditional drink, Pisco sour, and the well-known dish, ceviche, made with cured fish. Finally, you will head to the Huaca Pucllana restaurant located in the Miraflores district within the complex of an adobe pyramid built by the original inhabitants of Lima more than 1500 years ago. The restaurant is beautifully designed in a rustic colonial style. Here, you will taste traditional dishes and desserts.

Days 4-5 Arequipa
Leave the Capital behind and fly to the “White City”. Once you have checked into your hotel you will head out on a half-day city tour. Visit the Santa Catalina Convent, built in 1579, an enclosed religious town that remains in use to this day. Then finish off with some more delicious Pisco tasting.
On your second day, you will visit the local market of San Camilo, not only famous for its array of products but also its architecture with the famous French engineer, Gustave Eiffel, as the designer. You will then be taken to learn all about the chocolate-making process and be given the opportunity to make your own bar, before ending your tour with a delicious lunch of traditional Arequipean cuisine. Enjoy your evening meal at Zig Zag, an atmospheric restaurant that serves its European-Andean fusion food on slabs of hot volcanic stone.

Day 6 Cusco
Today you will fly to Cusco and in the evening enjoy traditional cuisine at Pachapapa restaurant, where meals are cooked in the earth ovens found in the restaurant’s courtyard.

Days 7-8 Sacred Valley
You will start your tour in the Chinchero town, one of the most important towns of the Inca Empire located on a terrace at about 3500 masl, framed by the calm beauty of the Chicón and Verónica snow-capped mountains. You will then visit the archaeological sites in Maras and Moray. Maras presents a surreal view; an impressive complex for the exploitation of salt mines. Moray's archaeological vestiges are composed of mysterious concentric circular terraces which, according to some scholars, would have been an agricultural research centre.
For lunch, you will enjoy an authentic culinary experience in a local restaurant to try some typical flavours of the region.
Take the next day to relax in your hotel, take in your beautiful surroundings or go on your own adventure.

Day 9 Machu Picchu - Cusco
Your trip to Machu Picchu begins with a train ride through the Andes mountain range to the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, you will then take a short bus ride to Machu Picchu, a masterpiece of engineering and architecture that is believed to have served as a sanctuary and resting place for Inca Pachacuti.
In the afternoon, enjoy a delicious lunch at the Sumaq Hotel. Then return by train to Ollanta station from where you will be transferred to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 10 Cusco
This afternoon, enjoy a traditional cooking class at Marcelo Batata. Learn to prepare Peruvian recipes whilst also learning about the history, cultural heritage and representative flavours of the whole country. A true participative, entertaining and personalised immersion in Peruvian cuisine in a professional environment designed exclusively for cooking classes.

Days 11-13 Lima - UK
Enjoy a leisurely morning to further explore Cusco before flying to Lima for your final night in the Peruvian capital. End your culinary journey with an exquisite gourmet tasting menu at the stylish beachfront Cala restaurant.
