La Paz takes you high above
As the world's highest capital city, La Paz has perhaps the most dramatic landscape of any capital city. Snow-capped mountains looming over the sprawling built-up hillsides, and the peculiar Moon Valley, are just a few of the elements that contribute to the city's uniqueness.
The newly constructed teleferico (cable car) takes you high above the city for spectacular views, but you will also want to take a closer look at a few other unmissable spots.
The 'Tupac Katari Mirador' has some of the best views of the entire city and it is also a sacred Inca site. You can also visit the 'Museo Nacional de Arte' which is set in a very impressive building that once was called "Palacio De Los Condes". The 'Mercado 16 de Julio' is also a must as it will give you the ultimate Bolivian market experience. Last but not least, make sure to visit the 'La Paz Cathedral" which is located on a steep hillside and therefore a big attraction for any tourist.
The Area
La Paz, is the third-most populous city in Bolivia and the highest administrative capital in the world. It offers many exciting experiences, fantastic sights, as well as a jaw-dropping subway in the sky - the cable cars.
Best Time To Go
Due to the altitude of the city, temperatures are consistently cool to mild throughout the year. Best months to visit La Paz tend to be from April to August.
