Luxury Colombia Ama Waterways
This 17 day journey is a brilliant way to experience Colombia’s contrasts in comfort, blending forward-looking cities, Caribbean energy and a slower, more immersive stretch of travel on the Magdalena River. From the outset, it balances memorable experiences with time to settle in, take in the details, and enjoy Colombia’s warmth and sense of rhythm.
You begin in Medellín, then head to Guatapé for a helicopter flight over the reservoir and the iconic Piedra del Peñol, before continuing to Barranquilla on the Caribbean coast. The centrepiece is a seven night Magdalena River cruise, where days unfold to a soundtrack of Latin American music, local culture and flavours, with opportunities to spot wildlife and meet communities along the riverbanks.
Back on land, Cartagena brings colonial history and character, with time to visit key sights such as San Felipe de Barajas and browse the artisan stalls at Las Bóvedas. You will also spend time in La Boquilla for an immersive cultural experience, before ending with downtime on Barú, where soft sands and clear waters offer a relaxed finale close to the coast
