On this 16 day Brazil wildlife discovery, your journey is shaped by three of the country’s most important natural regions: the Amazon Rainforest, the Pantanal and the wild grasslands of the Cerrado. Designed for travellers with a keen interest in wildlife and conservation, it combines expert guiding with stays in high-end lodges that are deeply connected to their surroundings.
Begin in the open savannahs of the Cerrado, exploring by fat bike or on four-wheel drive safaris in search of armadillos, giant anteaters and the elusive maned wolf. You then travel into the Amazon Rainforest, where guided walks and river excursions reveal the sheer complexity of jungle life, from medicinal plants to the subtle behaviours of its wildlife.
Your final days are spent in the Pantanal, one of the most rewarding regions in Latin America for wildlife encounters. Staying at a carefully managed eco lodge with a strong conservation focus, you will explore wetlands and waterways at the best times of day, when activity is at its peak. It is a powerful finale that brings you close to Brazil’s extraordinary biodiversity, while supporting the science-led efforts working to protect it.

Brazil Wildlife Discovery 16-Day Itinerary
Days 1 - 3 UK - Rio de Janeiro
Overnight flight from the UK to Brazil. Arrive in Rio de Janeiro where you will stay for two nights at a centrally located hotel in Copacabana.
On your second day, enjoy an exciting half-day tour to Corcovado (Christ the Redeemer) and Sugar Loaf Mountain, where you will have some fantastic views over the city.
Days 4-6 The Cerrado
The little-visited Cerrado is an enormous savannah and the second largest biome in South America, after the Amazon. Home to hundreds of species of bird, mammals, reptiles and fish, it is one of the richest ecosystems in the world. Staying at Pousada Trijunção your time here will be spent exploring the vast grasslands and soaking up the wilderness. Head out on foot, by bike or on safari excursions in search of armadillos, tapir, macaws and snakes, while night safaris on the lagoon allow the opportunity to spot pygmy caiman. You’ll also take a trip out with the Onçafari team who are working hard to protect and habituate the maned wolf. With comically large ears and long legs, these highly endangered wild dogs are incredibly important for the ecosystem. If you’re lucky you may even spot puma, jaguar or melanistic jaguar (black panther).
Days 7 - 9 The Amazon Rainforest
Fly from Brasilia to the city of Manaus, the main entry point for the Brazilian Amazon Jungle where you will spend one night. The following day you will head deep into the Amazon Rainforest to your lodge. Your stay here will include a daily program of excursions into the jungle with their superb guides, searching on foot and by canoe for native wildlife and learning all about the unique flora.
Days 10 - 13 The Pantanal
You will transfer to the Pantanal, a vast expanse of wetlands, thought of as the best place to spot wild animals in the whole of South America. Your full board stay at Caiman lodge includes a daily program of wildlife safaris in search of the Pantanal’s Big Five – marsh deer, giant anteater, tapir, capybara, and jaguar. You have an included excursion with NGO Onçafari conservationist to spot jaguar in the wild. Alternatively spend a morning with the vets and biologists of the Hyacinth Macaw Institute to see how they are protecting these magnificent birds.
Days 14- 16 Rio - UK
You will transfer to Rio de Janeiro airport for your onward flight, and land in the UK the next day.
