Luxury Mexico 10-day Itinerary
Days 1-3 UK - Mexico City
Arrive in Mexico City and transfer to the elegant Alest hotel, located in the upmarket Polanco neighbourhood.
Over the next two days you’ll explore Mexico City on guided tours, discovering the bustling zocalo (main square) and learning something of the country’s fascinating history at the National Museum of Anthropology.
On day 3 you’ll take a short journey outside of the city where you board a hot air balloon and take a ride over the ancient ruins of Teotihuacán, with a glass of bubbly in hand. Seeing these magnificent ruins from the sky is a magical moment you won’t forget. After breakfast, your journey continues to see these immense Aztec ruins at ground level. Walk along the Avenue of the Dead, see the Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon while exploring this impressive sprawling site.
Days 4-5 Mérida
Fly to Mérida, the capital of the state of Yucatán, where colonial charm and a laid-back atmosphere make it a favourite among visitors. Your stay at the gorgeous boutique hotel, Casa Lecanda is a great base from which to explore the many delights of the Yucatan, from cenotes (sinkholes) to flamingo sanctuaries and impressive Mayan archaeological sites.
Your time here has been left free for you to explore at your leisure. You could soak up the atmosphere of Mérida’s streets, go wildlife watching in Celestun Biosphere Reserve or take a trip to the nearby towns of Izamal or Sisal. Day 6 Chichén Itzá
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Chichén Itzá. One of the New 7 Wonders of the World, it is one of the best examples of Mayan architecture. Set in dense jungle surroundings you will explore these magnificent ruins on a guided tour. Chichén Itzá means 'mouth of the well of the Itzáes' in Mayan, and it is believed that people were thrown into nearby cenotes as a sacrifice to the gods; you'll also visit the Sacred Cenote on your explorations. Continue to Riviera Maya.
Days 7-8 Riviera Maya
With palm-line beaches and crystal clear waters, the Riviera Maya is an idyllic location to end your holiday to Mexico. Your time here is free to relax on the stunning beach or by the pool at the Royal Hideaway Playa del Carmen.
Days 9-10 Cancun - UK
On day 9 you'll transfer to the airport at Cancun and fly back to the UK, arriving on day 10.
