We’re delighted to share that Latin Routes has been featured in the October 2025 issue of Square Mile magazine, in a captivating travel piece by Duncan Madden titled Call of the Wild.
The article takes readers deep into Ecuador’s astonishing natural world, from the lush Chocó Cloud Forest and its rainforest trails to the remarkable wildlife encounters of the Galápagos Islands. Duncan’s words capture both the raw energy and peaceful isolation of these incredible environments, describing how “everything, everywhere is alive” as he journeys through the forest, and how nights aboard his Galápagos expedition ship feel “almost conspiratorial, something that should be protected and treasured.”
At Mashpi Lodge, Duncan highlights the blend of luxury and conservation that makes this jungle hideaway so unique, calling it “a five-star sanctuary at the mercy of the nature that surrounds it” and praising its commitment as “a wildlife reserve, scientific research centre and luxury hotel rolled into one.”
His experience continues in the Galápagos, where he writes of “giant tortoises in search of shade from the midday heat,” “marine iguanas with rictus grins,” and evenings watching the sun sink below Kicker Rock, cocktail in hand. These are moments that, as he reflects, truly embody “the holiday of a lifetime.”
Latin Routes is featured in the piece for our 12-day Ecuadorian Amazon & Galápagos itinerary, which includes stays in Quito and a Galápagos cruise aboard La Pinta. While Duncan travelled independently, the itinerary reflects the kind of expertly designed experiences we create for clients seeking to discover Ecuador’s wild beauty in comfort and style.
