Days 1 - 2 UK - Cartagena
Fly to Cartagena, where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in the city, a vibrant destination brimming with history, culture, and natural beauty. Stroll through its charming streets adorned with colourful colonial buildings and immerse yourself in its lively atmosphere.
After settling into your stateroom on AmaWaterways river cruise ship, delight in a tour of the colourful Getsemaní neighbourhood. Indulge your taste buds with local delicacies before returning to the ship.
Day 3 Palenque & Calamar
In the morning, experience Palenque, the Americas' first 'free town'. Founded by former slaves during colonial times, Palenque is recognised by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Human Heritage. Enjoy a special performance by local musicians, showcasing unique rhythmic style. Later explore Calamar, a historic town at the entrance of the Canal del Dique.
Day 4 Santa Barbara de Pinto to Mompox
Spend your morning in Santa Barbara de Pinto on a walking tour through this traditional town, where you can admire Santa Barbara Church and discover intricate handmade crafts. In the afternoon, reach the island town of Mompox where a warm welcome awaits as local musicians deliver an exclusive jazz performance.
Mompox is a town frozen in time, founded in 1540 and served as an important Spanish trading post. It became a haven for safeguarding treasures from pirates, resulting in beautifully crafted artifacts. Explore the ecological Ciénaga Pijiño region, home to diverse flora and fauna, as you journey through the largest inland island in Latin America. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walking tour of Mompox.
Days 5 - 6 Mompox to El Banco
Cruise the scenic Magdalena River to El Banco, a strategic town at the confluence of the Magdalena and César rivers. Explore El Banco on a guided walking tour, known as the birthplace of cumbia music and dance. Indulge in an exclusive dinner and witness a captivating cumbia performance.
Day 7 Magangue
