Beginning with your journey from the UK to Buenos Aires and concluding with your return from the Argentine capital, it combines cultural experiences, striking scenery and a relaxed pace of exploration. From the energy of Buenos Aires and the power of Iguazú Falls to the Andean landscapes of Salta, Mendoza’s vineyards and the glacial scenery of Patagonia, the itinerary showcases the remarkable diversity of the country.
Your journey begins in Buenos Aires, where tango heritage, historic neighbourhoods and everyday Argentine life create a compelling introduction. From here, travel to Iguazú Falls to experience one of Latin America’s most impressive natural spectacles, before continuing north-west to Salta & the Northwest. Here, rugged mountains, colourful valleys and vast salt flats reveal a contrasting side of Argentina, shaped by altitude, geology and enduring Andean traditions.
The route then leads south to Mendoza, the country’s celebrated wine region, with time to explore vineyards beneath the Andes and sample wines shaped by generations of expertise. The final stages take you into Patagonia, beginning in Bariloche and the Lake District, where crystal-clear lakes and mountain scenery provide a peaceful change of pace, before continuing to El Calafate. Here, the opportunity to witness the immense scale and movement of the Perito Moreno Glacier provides a memorable finale to this journey through Argentina before returning to Buenos Aires for your onward flight to the UK.

Leisurely Argentina 20-day Itinerary
Days 1-3 UK - Buenos Aires
Today you will depart the UK on your international flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Upon arrival in Buenos Aires you will spend two nights in the home of the tango, at a centrally located hotel.
Enjoy a fascinating half-day city tour on your first morning and learn about the fascinating history of Argentina which has shaped what the country has become today. You will also discover great places to see with the rest of your time.


Days 4-5 Iguazu Falls
Fly from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu where you will spend 2 nights discovering the almighty Iguazu Falls.
Enjoy a full-day tour to the Argentinian of the Iguazu Falls and half-day tour of the Brazilian side to discover one of the world’s most beautiful waterfalls.


Days 6-8 Salta & the Northwest
Fly from Puerto Iguazu to Salta where you will find the surrounding scenery dominated by the dramatic red rock Andes Mountains.
From red rock to white flats, take a full-day tour to the Salinas Grandes, Salt Flats. Admire the dramatic change in scenery on your drive and don’t forget to try your hand at perspective-defying photos.


Days 9-11 Mendoza
Today you will fly to Mendoza to discover the home of Argentina’s world-famous wine production for three nights.
Enjoy a full-day wine tour where you will visit three Bodegas / Vineyards in the heart of the central wine-growing region. Whilst at each of the venues a local guide will take you around and explain all about how they harvest the grapes and produce the wine at their location. As well as being able to sample some of the delicious produce you will also be able to enjoy a gourmet-tasting lunch.


Days 12 - 14 Bariloche & the Lakes
Fly from Mendoza to Bariloche (1 connection) to see the amazing scenery of Argentina’s Lake District. You will spend the next three nights at a lakeside hotel near to the town of Bariloche.
Enjoy a Half Day Scenic Surroundings tour which will head out of town to some of the best viewpoints in the surrounding area. Make sure you don’t forget your camera for photos of crystal clear blue lakes set against a backdrop of snow-capped Andes Mountains. With the rest of your time, you can discover more highlights of the region for yourself.


Days 15-17 El Calafate & the Perito Moreno Glacier
Today you will fly to El Calafate where you will find the scenery will dramatically change again. Around El Calafate, the mountains get bigger, and there are some amazing glaciers as well as some of the classic Pampas scenery that makes Argentina famous all over the world. You will spend three nights in this area.
You will discover the hugely impressive sight of the Perito Moreno glacier for yourself on a full-day tour which will take you as close to the face of it as you can get. If you still want to get closer, speak to your Latin Routes Travel Specialist about trekking on the ice itself (not included).


Days 18-20 Buenos Aires - UK
Today you will fly back to Buenos Aires for your last night. You will be able to say goodbye in style with a dinner and tango show. Enjoy a three-course meal while admiring the professional tango dancers of Buenos Aires.
The following day you will head to Buenos Aires Airport for your onward flight.
