Ventus Australis (4)

Ventus Australis, Expedition Ship, Patagonia Cruises

Sail through Southern Patagonia aboard Ventus Australis, a modern expedition ship navigating fjords, glaciers and the Strait of Magellan in comfort and style.

A modern expedition vessel inspired by the spirit and elements of Tierra del Fuego.

Ventus Australis, meaning Southern Wind, takes her name from the powerful air currents that shape Tierra del Fuego and have influenced life in this remote region for centuries. Sister ship to Stella Australis, she shares the same spirit of refined expedition cruising while offering her own contemporary style and atmosphere on board.

Purpose built to explore the far south of Chile, this 210 guest expedition vessel has been engineered for exceptional manoeuvrability. Every detail, from her hull design and draft to engine power and dimensions, allows her to navigate narrow fjords, secluded channels and glacier lined inlets that remain inaccessible to larger ships. This makes her ideally suited to sailing routes through the Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel.

Constructed by Asenav, the renowned Chilean shipyard behind the Australis fleet, Ventus Australis combines technical expertise with comfort and elegance. Spacious cabins, panoramic lounges and refined dining areas provide a welcoming setting after days spent exploring Southern Patagonia’s remote landscapes on guided shore excursions and Zodiac landings.

In our opinion

"Ventus Australis pairs seamlessly with further exploration of Patagonia on land, whether continuing to Torres del Paine, the Chilean Lake District or across the border into Argentina for a wider discovery of this remarkable region."
