When Do You Want To Go?
We will pick you up and head straight for Toconao, a village where the locals manufacture wonderful white volcanic stone sculptures. This white stone is used to build all of the local houses, including the church and the bell tower which gives the whole town a gorgeous white finish. Perfect for taking those whitewashed 'desert town' photos!
After Toconao you continue your journey to the world's largest salt lake: the Salar de Atacama. Although technically an inland sea formed millions of years ago, it's still classifies as a lake. It's a really unique experience to see the vast plain of the octagonal shaped salt crusts stretching out in front of you in the driest desert on earth. It's also home to various species of flamingoes as well as many other birds.
The Laguna Chaxa, part of the Reserva Nacional de los Flamingoes, is your next stop and offers a terrific opportunity to get close to flamingoes and other birds in their natural habitat. It's also a picture-perfect mirror lake framed by mountains far in the distance.
In the afternoon you'll return to your Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama.
