Fly from the UK to Buenos Aires arriving the next day.
Your holiday will begin in Buenos Aires, where you can experience the best of Argentina's stunning cosmopolitan capital. After two nights in the city and touring the city's highlights, you will fly south to Puerto Madryn.
In Puerto Madryn, you will stay at a charming boutique hotel in the city. From here you will enjoy a half day tour to Gaiman, which is one of the most famous Welsh settlements in Patagonia, founded in 1884 by Love Jones Parry it is one of Argentina’s most important Welsh communities. Welsh is spoken here on a daily basis, the town even maintains a rich choral tradition. While in Gaiman you can drop into one of the tea house and enjoy tea, scones and homemade jam; strolling through the friendly streets will bring you in touch with the friendly locals who will relish the chance to regale you with tales of their ancestors who built this settlement with the help of the friendly Tehuelche native Indians.
Enjoy a full day trip to the Provincial Wildlife Reserve Península Valdes, UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a one-hour drive you will arrive in Puerto Piramides, where you can take an optional boat tour. You will be able to watch Southern Right Whales (Eubalaena australis) between June and December, and Southern Sea lions (Otaria flavescens) and cormorants between January and March. The boat trip isn't available during April and May.
After this you will be driven to on to Estancia San Lorenzo, a traditional sheep farm, where you will be able to enjoy a spectacular lamb barbecue for lunch, you will visit a stunning Magellanic penguin colony located just 7 km/4,35 miles from the main house. After that, you will visit the Wildlife Reserve Punta Norte, where you can view Sea lions and orcas from December. On the way back, we make a stop at the Visitor Centre situated at the Isthmus Carlos Ameghino.
On your last day in Puerto Madryn you will get an overnight bus to Esquel.
On arriving in Esquel you will be taken from the coach station to your hotel.
After your first night, you will be taken on an unmissable excursión which combines nature, history and culture. Start by visiting the 16 de Octubre Valley, enjoying its large green expanses of farms and fields on the way to Trevelin, the principal Welsh colony.
From this enchanting valley, one can see snow-capped mountains all year round.
Surrounded by this spectacular view we will visit the Nant and Fall Cascades Natural Preserve to admire its four spectacular waterfalls via a 1600 metre interpretative trail via. After taking in the view from its panoramic balconies,
we will continue on to the Nant Fach Mill Museum with its fascinating history. Here one can see farm machinery and testimonials of the Welsh cultura and colonization of the area, the largest Welsh diaspora in the world and the only place outside of Wales that Welsh is spoken. Then explore the city of Trevelin to see its main monuments and buildings, finishing at a traditional Welsh tea house where one can choose to enjoy an exquisite tea. Return to the city of Esquel with happy hearts and full stomachs.
On your second full day you will be taken for a full day tour of Los Alerces National Park. The National Park is a protected area located in the Andes mountains in the west of Chubut Province, near the limit with Chile. The area consists of a vast lake system, surrounded by mountains forested in native cohihues, cypress and lengas and connected by numerous rivers and streams. This tour is an excellent option to visit most of the Park. Depart Esquel in the morning, driving into the Los Alerces National Park along National Route 259 and Provincial Route 71. Visit and explore interesting sites such as Villa Intendencia, cave paintings, Irigoyen Cascade, Verde Lake and the walkway of Arrayanes river, and take a hike up to Pto Chucao. Virgin forests alternate with lakes, rivers, rapids and mountains along the way, providing wonderful views and beautiful surroundings.
On your last morning, you will take a Private Transfer from your hotel to Esquel Airport. Where you will fly to Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery Airport. From there you will fly from Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport back to the UK
