Experience a 4, 6 or 7 night cruise on board the Motor Yacht Tucano and experience the last great wilderness on earth. The Tucano ventures far up the Rio Negro and enters the Amazon River itself, visiting several different kinds of rainforest along the way. Guests will see amazingly colourful birds, magnificent trees draped with vines and covered with orchids and occasional monkeys chattering and cavorting in the branches. Excursions include canoe trips, forest walks, piranha fishing, nocturnal wildlife spotting, swimming in the river, and visits to isolated farms and settlements.
Though the schedule will vary according to navigational and weather considerations, the days will have a basic outline of activities. A day may include boarding the launch boats in search of birds and wakening howler monkeys, exploring using the boat's launches or walking in the forest, informal talks about the flora and fauna. Some evenings will involve spotting wildlife with powerful searchlights. Guests will see and do a great deal in the forest, but there will also be plenty of time to relax and have fun during the trip. Every afternoon hors-d'oeuvres are served on the Observation Deck and guests are treated to a magnificent sunset.
The Motor Yacht Tucano experience is comfortable, intimate, efficient and fun. The vessel is not a luxury vessel, but the best way to experience the Amazon is to embrace the environment - to experience to the fullest the exotic sights and sounds of this greatest wilderness on earth. At over 80 feet long, the Tucano has ideal spaces to observe the forest and a generous salon surrounded by a large balcony. Thoroughly panelled and lighted by brass lamps, this room serves as the vessel library and dining room. From this large space, filled with windows and situated at the front of the boat, guests can see the fantastic forest around us. The top deck is open and has a large sun canopy - a wonderful place to spot wildlife or soak in the vastness of the Amazon.
All of the 9 cabins are comfortable. Most cabins have individual beds and some have above and below beds. Each cabin on the Tucano has a private bath with a shower, toilet, and a sink. There is also hot water pressurized showers. Meals are not gourmet nor are they fine dining. But there is a very elaborate meal service and the cooks make the very best out of the wonderful fruits, fishes and flavours unique to the Amazon. Meals are wholesome, filling and delicious.
