Designed by the innovative Peruvian architect Jordi Puig, this 45-meter-long ship is way more than a transporting vehicle, it is a means to a completely new and life-changing adventure. On this particular 4-nigh trip you will see fantastic exotic wildlife and do several different activities. You will cruise along the Yanallpa River, Pacaya River, Ucayali River, Yarapa River and the Clavero River. Each one of them, a new opportunity for incredible discoveries.
Are you ready for it?
After arriving at the Iquitos airport your journey starts in the most relaxed way, with a drive through the Peruvian countryside. You will be heading towards the Nauta lounge where lunch will be served right before your afternoon activities. Take some time to get to know the people around you while you enjoy your delicious meal and afterward have your first little adventure, as you head on a skiff to Amazonia's birthplace. By 6 PM you will be on the Aria Amazon ship and already settled on your generously proportioned suite. Look around and enjoy the stunning views. Later on, there will be routine safety drill followed by the opportunity to taste the mouthwatering food prepared by the Executive Chef on board, Miguel Schiaffino.
The journey continues and this time takes place in the Yanallpa River. Interestingly enough, the river's name in the Quechua language means 'black earth', but there's nothing black about this area at all. Quite the contrary, colours are the main character in this river's world. You will explore these waters by skiff, till you make a stop to walk deep in the Amazon rainforest. Listen to the movements of the forest and let the sound of your steps also become a part of it. Later on, you will board the skiffs again and head towards the El Dorado River for an evening excursion. You will be pleasantly surprised to find very active wildlife even at a later hour.
Wake up with the first sun rays and enjoy an early breakfast picnic before anything else. While you are still gathering energy for the day from the food around you, the forest keeps you company with its beautiful sounds and calming colours. You will also be able to do some fishing along the Pacaya River and after lunch, you will cruise the Ucayali River. Take a closer look at the banana boats usually seen in this area, these are way more than just picturesque looking boats, they transport jungle products to the Requena port. Keep also an eye out for pink dolphins, you wouldn't want to miss these beautiful creatures! The evening is reserved for eating, chatting, relaxing, and star gazing with the high tech telescope present on board.
As the day's activities start you will be given the chance of trying a few different things, such as jungle walking, canoeing, kayaking, or swimming in the black waters of the Yarapa or Clavero river. In the afternoon you will be visiting a remote Amazonian village so make sure to bring your camera as you will want to capture moments like this. In the evening enjoy your dinner as usual and after you will have the opportunity to meet a few other crew-members as they are officially introduced to all guests.
Start this last day in the best way possible by visiting the Bellavista Nanay market. This is a colourful morning market along the Nanay River where you can find everything from fruits to moonshine and even boats. Fancy tasting something different? In this market, you will also find exotic Peruvian snacks such as the famous, Suri, Amazonian caterpillars which are considered quite delicious. Head back to the Aria ship and enjoy a relaxed breakfast. After packing up your suitcases you will be taken to the Manatee Rescue Centre which is a fantastic place that gives these endangered species a second chance. Here the manatees are rescued, rehabilitated and after released back into the wild. To top it off nicely you will visit the San Juan craft market on route to the airport.
