Day: 1 Arrival – San Jose

You will arrive at Juan Santamaria International Airport. Private transfer to the rental car company will be provided. Drive to the hotel in the San Jose province.
San Jose is the capital of Costa Rica and where the economy is concentrated, with its business centres and luxurious hotels. This is a place where culture and gastronomy converge. We recommend you try the Gallo Pinto, the national dish in the country.
You will then drive to the Arenal area. It is an exceptional place renowned for its natural beauty, the majestic Arena Volcano towers above the town and nature reserve. It is the only conical shaped volcano in Costa Rica. A wide variety of activities can be arranged whether you want to appreciate the fauna and flora, or prefer to go hiking, or white water rafting, after a long day take the chance to relax in the spa or even one of the natural hot springs.

These next days will be the chance to explore at your own pace and admire the wonders of the location.
Get in your rental car and drive to the Monteverde area. It is safe to say that this area is not like any other on the planet. You will find incredible landscapes and an abundant wildlife as it is home to 2500 species of plants and 1200 different animals. Most importantly, you will enter the enigmatic cloud forest! The area is of great importance as many efforts have been undertaken to preserve its nature. Consequently, a natural laboratory studies the fauna and flora of the province. Monteverde offers several activities which can be educational, cultural or adventurous.
Your next destination will be Rincon de la Vieja, in the province of Guanacaste. Rincon de la Vieja Volcano is an active volcano and is part of the “Area de Conservación Guanacaste World Heritage Site”. It is in the dry forest and is also part of the National Park. From there, you could drive West or North and head out to beautiful beaches. Additionally, the area has a plethora of activities to offer. In fact, you can horse riding, traversing with a Zip-line or simply walking and discover the wonders of the area.
You will drive to Tamarindo. In this area, you will find some of the prettiest and most popular beaches such as Avellena or Ventanas beach. It is a dry weather, with a crystalline water and a formidable vegetation. There are multiple sites to visit in the area and quite close to each other. The lodging options are varied, from all-inclusive resorts to charming boutique hotels. Those sites are propitious to relaxation along stunning beaches. Certainly, you can admire the remarkable wildlife and beautiful scenery.
It is time to head back to San Jose International Airport and return the rental car. You will fly back to the UK and arrive the next day.
