Nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate "The Wildlife of Costa Rica: A Field Guide" by Fiona A. Reid, a comprehensive book providing detailed descriptions and illustrations of Costa Rica's diverse flora and fauna, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and insects. This guide serves as an indispensable companion for exploring the country's national parks and reserves.

"Monkeys are Made of Chocolate" by Jack Ewing offers engaging stories of living among Costa Rica's ecosystems and nature. This easy-to-read book is witty, interesting, and informative, making it a delightful choice for anyone curious about Costa Rica's natural wonders.

Taste 😋

No journey to Costa Rica would be complete without enjoying the national dish, gallo pinto. Traditionally enjoyed at breakfast, this hearty combination of rice and black beans is often served alongside eggs or plantains and complemented with salsa Lizano, reminiscent of Worcestershire Sauce. Simple yet flavoursome!

After a day filled with adventure, unwind with a refreshing guaro sour. Often hailed as the national drink of Costa Rica, guaro (sugar cane liquor) is mixed with lime juice, soda, and a hint of sugar, creating the perfect sundowner to cap off your day.

Listen 🎶

Costa Rica's music scene reflects the lush landscapes and vibrant spirit of this Central American paradise. From the timeless calypso tunes of Walter Ferguson to the contemporary sounds of Debi Nova, MishCatt, and Ojo de Buey, all of these artists encapsulate the eclecticism of Costa Rican music.

Say 🗣️

Pura vida’ - This is Costa Rica's national motto, literally translating to 'Pure life.' It embodies the laid-back lifestyle and attitude of the Costa Rican people, who often use it in place of other words such as ‘you’re welcome’ or ‘goodbye’ and you'll no doubt be saying it often during your visit!

Tico/tica’ - This is a colloquial term used to refer to a Costa Rican man or woman.

Que chive’ - If you want to speak like a local "tico," "que chiva" is a slang way of expressing 'How cool' or 'How great.'
