Discover Brazil’s incredible Amazonian flora and fauna

This six-day cruise on a traditional-style clipper takes guests up the Negro River, passing the famous “meeting of the waters” and into the Amazon River itself. You’ll navigate the complex network of waterways in Anavilhanas National Park and canoe on the calm waters of Janauaca Lake. On night excursions, keep an eye out for nocturnal wildlife such as night hawks, caiman, frogs and snakes, and during the day you’ll explore the rivers, lakes and tributaries by canoe in search of sloths, pink river dolphins, monkeys and more. The birdlife here is fantastic too, with a good chance of seeing hoatzin, large flocks of egret, parrots, macaws and colourful toucans. But the Amazon isn’t just about the wildlife, the flora is incredible too, with tall Brazil nut and tapereba fruit trees towering overhead, tropical açaí and pupunha palms, and giant water lilies that can grow up to 10ft wide! You’ll also visit one of the native communities that live on the river where you’ll get to learn more of their traditions and customs.

If you’re short on time, it is also possible to cruise a section of this itinerary on a shorter three or four-day cruise, speak to your Travel Specialist for more information.
