When Do You Want To Go?
Owen studied Human Evolution at the University of Liverpool. After which he worked in several Customer Service and Accounts roles, before spending some time teaching English as a foreign language.
He spent around 18 months in South East Asia backpacking and also doing some teaching. He later took a one way flight to Peru and spent the next 9 months backpacking around 5 countries in South America, with the most time spent in Peru and Colombia.
Since starting at Latin Routes he has been back to Chile with a work trip staying at Explora in both the Atacama desert and Torres del Paine in Patagonia. He has also been to Guatemala, Mexico and twice to Costa Rica, most recently with work on an amazing wildlife focused trip.
It really is too difficult to choose a favourite but I found Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia to be absolutely spectacular, and unlike anywhere else I'd ever been to before. Cartagena in Colombia is one of the most colourful and exciting cities I've been to, and walking around the old town feels like stepping back in time.
My top tip is to get second entry tickets for Machu Picchu, this gives you the chance to go in again the next morning and beat some of the crowds, plus it gives you another opportunity just in case the weather isn't great on the first day.
