A 17-day holiday to explore the stunning fjords and coastline of Northern Patagonia, the holiday also visits Santiago - Chile's capital, Valparaiso and the world famous Colchagua Valley. You will start your journey in Santiago before travelling to the bohemian city of Valparaiso, exploring its colourful and charming streets. This trip also takes you to some of the best vineyards in the beautiful Colchagua Valley, where you will be able to sample some of South America's finest wines and discover a family-owned vineyard in a fantastic wine tour!
The journey will then take you further south where you will discover the Lake District’s impressive sights before heading to Chiloé Island, characterised by its colourful wooden houses along the shore. You will embark the MV Skorpios III and navigate through narrow fjords and channels seeing the impressive landscapes, scenery and glaciers. The highlight of the voyage is Amalia Glacier.
The Expedition team will land in a few places, you will be hiking through native forest and have the opportunity to observe the famous Torres del Paine in the immense region of Patagonia. The adventure promises to be epic!

You will catch your overnight flight from the UK to Santiago.
You will travel to Valparaiso where you will have the opportunity to visit on a walking tour Valparaiso’s great patrimonial and cultural attraction boasting natural beauty and Chilean charm. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO this important port city was once considered “The Jewel of the Pacific “, before the opening of the Panama Canal.
Today you will be picked up in your hotel in the beautiful Colchagua Valley to visit two of the most attractive vineyards of Chile. Your first stop will be the Montes Vineyard which boasts a panoramic view of the quaint village of Apalta. In a tour through the vineyard you will discover the different grape varieties available for wine making. You will also be treated to a tasting of the vineyard’s Montes Classic, Montes Limited Selection and Montes Alpha wines
Your second destination will be the Viu Manent Vineyard. In this family-owned winery, you will have the possibility to do a historic tour through the vineyard in a traditional carriage, enjoy a wine tasting of 5 premium wines and visit a local museum that showcases the region and its cultural attractions.
Day 6: Puerto Montt – Puerto Varas:
Upon arrival at the Puerto Montt Airport, you will be taken to Puerto Varas, known as the “City of Roses”, located on the shores of the Llanquihue Lake; one of Chile’s largest lakes. Stroll along the lakeside shore and enjoy a great view of the volcanoes Osorno and Calbuco and the beautiful beach.
Day 7: Peulla
Today, you will drive along the shore of the Llanquihue Lake passing various beaches and the town of Ensenada before reaching Petrohué located in the National Park Vicente Pérez Rosales. On the way you can make an optional short stop at the famous Petrohué Falls characterized for their remarkable emerald colored waters. When arriving at Petrohué, a catamaran will be waiting for you to sail across the beautiful Todos Los Santos Lake to the town of Peulla. Peulla is located in the center of the Andes, right before the Argentinean border. You will have time for lunch and/ or outdoor activities. In the afternoon you will return to Puerto Varas to spend the night.
DAY 8: Chiloé Island.
You will depart for Pargua and cross the Chacao Channel by ferry to reach the Island of Chiloé. After arriving, you will visit the town of Chacao famous for its main square and the church of San Antonio. You will then continue your trip to Dalcahue where you will stop at the town’s waterfront visiting the local market featuring a wide range local arts and crafts. Additionally, you will visit the town’s museum and church. This wooden church is one of the 16 cathedrals declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Afterward you will continue your travels to the city of Castro. This is the capital city of the island and is famous for its stilt houses built above the water’s edge. In addition, the town boasts the massive San Francisco Church, completely built out of native wood. Afterwards, you will return to Puerto Varas.
Day 9: Puerto Varas – Puerto Montt
After breakfast you will depart to Puerto Montt for a brief city tour including the lively fish market of Angelmó. You will then depart to the Puerto Montt Airport for your flight.
Day 9: Puerto Natales
Towards evening you will board your ship in Puerto Natales and prepare for an incredible journey sailing through the channels and fjords of Patagonia. Before your departure, you will receive a security brief and you can then take your time to explore the facilities of what’s going to be your home for the next few days.
Day 10: Amalia Glacier and Calvo Fjord
In the morning you will have reached the impressive Amalia Glacier. To enjoy a better view you will disembark on a nearby beach and enjoy a short walk along the shore. Eventually you will reach a lookout point boasting panoramic views of the landscape. You will then continue to the El Brujo Glacier and if the schedule and weather permit, you may even get a closer look at the glacier in one of the boats provided by the cruise. In the afternoon you will depart towards the spectacular Calvo Fjord where you will have the chance to navigate amongst huge icebergs and frigid waters.
Day 11: Montañas Fjord
This morning as you awaken you will be treated to views of the Montañas Fjord and its glaciers. In this sector, you will have the opportunity to tour the bay and have an up-close look at these giant bodies of ice. Afterwards you will continue on your journey to disembark at a glacier for a short hike through native forest and to a glacier lake. In the afternoon the cruise will take you to a sector where once again you will disembark for an exploration sailing among the surrounding islands and rocky formations. Upon your return you will get ready for a special farewell dinner and party.
Day 12: Puerto Natales
Today your journey comes to an end as you sail back to Puerto Natales.
Today you will be picked up from the hotel in Puerto Natales and start your tour visiting the Mylodon Cave, located about 30 minutes away from the town. This cave was discovered by a German explorer in 1895. He found a skin piece of a prehistoric animal called “Mylodon” of 10.000 years old. After visiting this natural monument, you will continue toward the Village of Cerro Castillo, heart of the sheep farming business in the area. As you continue on the road you will spot the mountains of the Paine Massif (if the weather is favorable) including the famous Torres del Paine and the spectacular Cuernos del Paine. Before reaching the entrance of the park you will be able to see the Sarmiento Lake and the Amarga Lagoon.
During this day, you will move on to the central area and be able to visit places like the Salto Grande waterfall, Nördenskjold and Pehoe lakes, and reach the Grey Lake where you will see many icebergs that come from the imposing Grey Glacier.
The next day, you will be transferred to the Punta Arenas and fly back to Santiago.
On this wonderful tour we will experience Santiago guided by our senses. During our first stop will visit the historic Santa Lucía Hill, which is a lone steep rock that is adorned with wonderful facades, fountains, stairways and where the city was founded in 1541. From there we will continue to the París-Londres neighborhood where we will find examples of famous European architecture within the areas surrounding buildings. A little later, we will get to know the unique culture of Santiago by sipping coffee at one of the notorious “café con piernas”. From there, we will visit some of the most popular streets of the city, filled with history and home to bustling commerce. Subsequently, we will head towards the Central Market known for its cuisine and exotic fish stores. We will also experience visiting the Vega Chica Market boasting some of the best flavors, scents and colors of this metropolis. It is here we will get to try one of Chiles traditional drinks known as Cola de Mono. As we start to call it a day one of our final stops will be a renowned flower market filled with colorful displays and beautiful scents. Our last activity will be a tour of the cultural Lastarria Neighborhood, where we will find sights and sounds unique to this amazing city.
You will be transferred back to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure before catching your flight home the next day.
