Stand at the End of the World and Discover the Most Remote Parts of Chilean Patagonia

Our Cruise to the End of the World itinerary is perfect if you want to get as far away from civilisation as you can in Latin America. After discovering the sights in Buenos Aires you will fly to Ushuaia, the most southerly city in the World! From here you will embark on a luxury expedition cruise with Cruceros Australis, who will take you on an amazing journey to the “uttermost end of the earth.” You will have the opportunity to stand on Cape Horn which is the most Southerly point of land in the World - the views and atmosphere are stunning.

You will then move on through some of the most remote fjords in Chile (some of which are only accessible by boat) passing stunning hanging glaciers and dramatic mountains and you go. At several points across the 3 nights you will jump into the ships own zodiac boats with the ships team of Expedition leaders, to explore even more. Walking up to glaciers, spotting penguins and cruising through the ice flows are some of the amazing experiences that are waiting for you.

After your cruise you will transfer to Patagonia Camp set in its own private reserve, just outside of the famous Torres del Paine National Park. Accommodation at Patagonia Camp is in utterly unique Luxury Yurts, each with its own private terrace overlooking a crystal blue lake. Each Yurt also enjoys a private bathroom and the chefs in the Club House prepare delicious cuisine sourced from local ingredients. Recently voted as 8th wonder of the World more dramatic scenery awaits you as you explore the park on one of Patagonia Camps organised excursions, which are included in your stay - as are the drinks and food!

Day 1 - 3: Buenos Aires

Fly overnight from the UK to Buenos Aires where you will spend 2 nights in the home of the tango, at a centrally located hotel.

Enjoy a fascinating Half Day City Tour on your first morning and learn about the fascinating history of Argentina which has shaped what the country has become today. You will also discover great places to see with the rest of your time.

With the rest of your time in the city you could discover one of the cities many art galleries or museums. Alternatively, if your stay falls over a Sunday, you could visit the famous San Telmo Sunday Market which is home to a huge range of local artisan stalls, live music, tango and a buzzing atmosphere.

Day 4: Expedition Cruise - Depart Ushuaia

Today you will fly to Ushuaia and then be transferred to the check for your expedition cruise. Board the M/V Stella Australis cruise ship at 17:30. After a welcoming cocktail reception hosted by the Captain and his crew, the M/V Stella Australis will depart for one of the remotest parts of the planet. The voyage will take you through the Strait of Magellan and Beagle Channel to explore one of the most breath-taking wilderness regions in the world: Southern Patagonia, which includes the Tierra del Fuego archipelago.

Day 5: Expedition Cruise - Cape Horn, Wulaia Bay

Today you will be sailing through Murray Channel and Nassau Bay to reach Cape Horn National Park, where, weather permitting, we shall go ashore. The legendary Cape Horn was discovered in 1616 and is a sheer 425-meter (1,394-foot) high rocky promontory. For many years it was an important navigation route between the Pacific and the Atlantic, and is referred to as the ‘End of the Earth’. The park was declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2005.

In the afternoon, you will go ashore at historic Wulaia Bay, originally the site of one of the region’s largest Yamana aboriginal settlements. Charles Darwin landed there in 1833 during his voyage on the HMS Beagle. This area is also renowned for the mesmerizing beauty of its vegetation and geography.

Day 6: Expedition Cruise - Agostini Sound, Aguila Glacier

Today you will be sailing through Brecknock, Ocasión, Cockburn, and Magdalena Channels to enter the spectacular De Agostini Sound, in the heart of the Darwin Mountain Range. This is where you shall see glaciers sliding down the mountainside all the way to the sea.

In the afternoon, in well-equipped Zodiac boats, you will travel to the Águila Glacier where you will embark upon an easy walk to its base. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience the beauty of Patagonia’s cold rainforest and to see how the power of nature has moulded the spectacular landscape.

Day 7: Expedition Cruise - Magdalena Island, Punta Arenas

Early in the morning, weather permitting, you will go ashore on Magdalena Island, located in the middle of the Strait of Magellan. The island used to be an essential source of supplies for navigators and explorers and is inhabited by an immense colony of Magellan Penguins that you will be able to see during our walk to the lighthouse. (In September and April, this excursion is replaced by a ride aboard Zodiacs to Marta Island to observe South American Sea Lions) Finally, you will disembark in Punta Arenas at around 11:30.

Day 7 - 9: Torres del Paine

Upon disembarkation you will be transferred to either Hotel Las Torres (Comfort) or Tierra Patagonia (Luxury) for 3 nights. Both hotels are either inside or near to the National Park and offer a programme of excursions around Torres del Paine and the surrounding countryside. Staying at both hotels will be on an All Inclusive basis which means your meals, drinks and excursions are included. All you need to do is decide what you want to do with your time.

(Other properties in and around the National Park are also available for this part of the holiday. Speak to your Travel Specialist for more details)

Day 10: Santiago
