When Do You Want To Go?

Eco-Tourism Estancia in the Mahoma hills, Uruguay

Experience the natural beauty of Uruguay at Finca Piedra, a unique eco-tourism estancia in the Mahoma hills. Located 125 miles from capital, Montevideo and 60 miles from Colonia, it’s a peaceful region surrounded by flora and fauna, rivers and streams. Encompassing 1000 hectares, Finca Piedra offers guests a selection of guided and non-guided activities, homemade meals and wine from their own on-site winery. Whether you wish to explore the terrain on horseback or bike, take a cooking glass or birdwatch on the grounds, you can do it all from Finca Piedra.

Accommodations of Finca Piedra are comfortable, furnished in a traditional style with hand-woven blankets and rustic furnishings. There are 13 rooms in total which accommodate up to 28 people, in standard, superior or deluxe category rooms. The main estancia building dates to the 1930s containing 3 rooms overlooking the vineyard and outdoor swimming pool. These rooms connect to the living room, library and table games room. Rooms located in the Old Winery are decorated beautifully to match the vineyards and their atmosphere, and deluxe stable dwellings boast exceptional vistas of the Mahoma hills. Groups have the option to stay in Las Alturas, a huge bedroom with 20 individual single beds, 4 bathrooms and 5 showers.

Gastronomic delicacies are prepared in the estancia, accompanied by wines from Finca Piedra’s vineyards. The Tannat restaurant blends traditional recipes from both Uruguay and Europe to provide delicious mouth-watering cuisine for all palates. Afterwards, there’s no better place to relax with a drink and new-found friends than in the rustic-style bar decorated with cask barrels and exposed stone walls.

There are many free activities to enjoy at Finca Piedra. You can enjoy an early morning swim, immersing yourself with the sounds of nature in the outdoor pool, take leisurely walks to birdwatch or star-gaze underneath a silvery moon. If you prefer a local guide to accompany you as you explore the countryside, you can horseback ride, enjoy a vineyard tour, visit the native animal reserve or even partake in a cooking class at Los Olivos!
