In the Sacred Valley of the Incas, among verdant fields and towering mountains, lies Belmond Hotel Rio Sagrado. Set on the banks of the rushing Urubamba River, this luxury hotel is built in natural materials to resemble an authentic Andean village. Situated at a lower altitude than nearby Cusco, the hotel provides the perfect environment in which to acclimatise, and is an ideal base from which to explore the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.
The hotel is laid out over a series of low-rise buildings down the hillside to the banks of the river and as a result each room offers great views of the gardens and the river beyond. The hotel has a lovely heated pool that is the perfect place to spend a few hours relaxing in the sunshine. Nearby, you will find the hotel’s restaurant and bar area, where they serve delicious drinks and snacks throughout the day and a full menu of Peruvian cuisine for lunch and dinner.
There are several room categories at the hotel and every room comes with a terrace overlooking the gardens as well as a luxurious bathroom with a full-window shower. It is also the only hotel in the Sacred Valley to have its own stop on the train to Machu Picchu; there is one Vistadome service per day that stops here. The hotel is a lovely retreat where you can relax for a few days, or you can use it as a base to explore the sights of the Sacred Valley.
”Belmond Hotel Rio Sagrado offers a lovely setting in which to enjoy the Sacred Valley. A nice range of facilities and great touches throughout. Please note this hotel is arranged over a hillside so there are steps all around the property.”
