La Selva’s impeccable organisation, top notch service and extensive local knowledge have earned the lodge its brilliant reviews and respected status as a world-class Amazon Lodge. Its remote location in the rainforest is considered one of the best for birdwatching in the Amazon and animal sightings begin the moment guests begin the thrilling two-and-a-half-hour journey to the lodge.
The new state-of-the-art eco-suites at La Selva are split into two main categories. Suites enjoy privileged views over the large Garzacocha Lagoon, where groups of monkeys and other native animals are often seen. Each private wooden hut has a large en-suite with a hot shower, ceiling fans and electricity. The three Scenic Suites offer amazing lake-views and are 25 square metres in size, while the twelve Superior suites are slightly larger with a balcony overlooking the jungle. For families, the lodge has four Family Cabins with one king size and two double beds, private porch, hammock and tub.
Along with a great restaurant, La Selva also houses a well-stocked bar with refreshing beverages such as bottled beer or fresh juices. What is more, with highly qualified massage therapists on site, for some guests there is nothing better than a relaxing massage in the lodge’s spa after a long day of adventurous activities.
Activities at La Selva include guided walks through their extensive trail system where guests will come across the majestic Giant Kapok tree and the Strangler Fig Tree, among other species of flora and fauna. Hikes and canoe rides are available by day or night, for the chance to see and hear snakes, frogs, caiman and other animals native to this part of the Amazon.
