The best choice for small-scale luxury in the Brazilian Amazon
Located on the bank of the River Negro, 2hrs 30 from Manaus and close to the Anavilhanas Archipelago, a natural reserve, is the newest lodge in the Brazilian Amazon, the Mirante do Gaviao, which translates as ‘Hawk’s Lookout’.
The architectural design, in harmony with nature, is signed by the Spanish architect Patricia O’Reilly. It offers seven spacious suites and bungalows, in three categories – family Tree House for groups of up to six people, Deluxe, with large balconies and hot tubs for up to four people and Standard, with balcony, for up to three people.
Facing the river, the lodge restaurant has a menu prepared by chef Deborah Shornik, offering an international cuisine mixed with regional ingredients. The accommodation is surrounded by Brazilian Nut trees, tucumã palm trees and other native trees of amazon biome, as well as the beautiful view of the Anavilhanas Archipelago.
The lodge offers full-board packages and depending on the duration of stay, it can be up to eight different activities – such as jungle trekking, piranha fishing, a visit to see pink river dolphins, or canoeing, among others with assigned English, German or French speaking guides.
