The legendary Hotel Phoenix reopened as Esplendor Buenos Aires in 2007. The classic façade of the building was beautifully restored when the hotel reopened and has since been declared a historic heritage building in Argentina. However, on the inside, the hotel is an oasis of modern, avant-garde design. Modern materials are combined with a clever use of light which extends over each corner of the hotel to create open, warm spaces that are really impressive.
At the centre of the hotel an area called the Old Patio is highlighted, which the hotel has converted into an art gallery. Members of the Argentine group of art Mondongo have created artworks using a variety of modern techniques that denote prominent personalities of Argentina's culture such as Maradonna and Gardel.
On the mezzanine floor of the Esplendor hotel there is a 'chill out' lounge which is secluded from the lobby and is a really nice spot to relax after a busy day sightseeing. The hotel also has a very attractive restaurant which is open throughout the day with market-fresh cuisine and seasonal products. It has become well renowned both with guests and locals.
There are 51 guestrooms at the Esplendor Buenos Aires split into three categories of stylish rooms. Overall, while the hotel is a medium size, the combination of design, spaces and facilities gives the hotel a boutique feel.
"The Esplendor Hotel Buenos Aires has a beautiful exterior and it's almost a surprise to find the modern interior as you enter the hotel. However this design really works and the period details are picked up in just the right places. It's a great option in the heart of the city if you're looking for something that little bit different."
The Esplendor hotel has some great facilities which are all in-keeping with the design and feel of the hotel. The hotel is of a Boutique nature which means they may not be as extensive as you would expect in larger hotels, however everything you need to base yourself here and explore the city is on hand.
The service at the hotel is warm, friendly and efficient with some nice touches like the concierge service and 24 hour reception.
