Day 1:

You cruise begins at Punta Arenas where departure is scheduled for 6PM. Before entering the world of the Silversea you can explore the city and its fantastic nature. Punta Arenas is located on the edge of the Strait of Magellan, near the tip of Chile's southernmost Patagonia region. Here you can find urban spots as well as more remote places, where all you can see is Punta Arena's beautiful landscapes and wildlife. Colonies of elephant seals and penguins call this place home, and so can you, at least for a few hours.

Day 2:

Day at sea means full-on pampering for you! While on route to New Island you can indulge in the ship's fantastic, first-rate facilities for a more relaxing holiday experience. Leave everything else behind and dedicate yourself to a day of only one worry: how much 'me' time did you manage to get! There are also loads of activities on offer. You can try a dance class, wine tasting or a matinee movie,  as well as visiting the designer boutiques, head to the library or simply watch a movie in your suite. Loads of options, your decision.

Day 3:

Welcome to the Falkland Islands (Malvinas)! Arrival at New Island is scheduled for 6AM, and even though it will be an early start it is worth the effort. Surrounded by the South Atlantic, the islands lie 490km east of Patagonia and are else other than another wonder of this world. There are two main islands, East Falkland and West Falkland, and more than 700 smaller ones. The westernmost side of the archipelago is a wildlife and nature reserve with incredible birds and animal that are protected by an environmental conservation group, as they should be. Here it is really just you an nature so that the take the time to appreciate the rarity and beauty of this moment.

Departure will be at 11am.

Carry on with your Falkland Islands adventure as you arrive at West Point Island at around 2.15PM. Located on the north-west corner of the archipelago, West Point has some of the most beautiful scenery in the Falklands.  It has an area of 1,469 hectares of fantastic nature where you can spot Peale’s dolphins, Commerson’s dolphin, Magellanic Penguins as well as Magellanic Cormorants. Don't miss the Devil's Nose, one of the most popular places on the island due to its colony of Black-browed Albatrosses nesting side-by-side with Rockhopper Penguins on a cliffside. - An interesting place of contrasts.

Departure will be at 7PM.

Day 4:

As you continue exploring the Falkland Island it is time to get to know Stanley. On this day arrival is scheduled for 8AM and you will have a few hours to enjoy this beautiful island before leaving to a completely different part of this trip. Stanley is the capital of the Falklands and is recognisable at first sight by its bright, coloured houses as well as the wreck of Lady Elizabeth (a vessel from 1879 which is beached in Whale Bone Cove). In the picturesque Stanley you will also probably spot more penguins than people, as this island is filled with several penguins species such as Gentoo, Magallanic, King penguins and more. Our advice is - be camera ready!

Departure will be at 1PM.

Day 5:

This day will be dedicated to crossing the Drake Passage - or Sea of Hoces – which is located in between South America's Cape Horn and the South Shetland Islands of Antarctica. You might have heard about this passage before, as a place of turbulent seas, and this is true due to the westerly winds and funneling effect of the passage. Still crossing this part of the world is most enjoyable mainly because it provides you with fantastic sightseeing. Here you view whales, dolphins, as well as seabirds such as giant petrels, other petrels, albatrosses and penguins. Pretty much the perfect 'preview' of what is to come once you reach Antarctica.

Day 6:

You will spend day 6 in the Antarctic Sound and arrival is scheduled for 3PM. Here you will be first exposed to the fantastic Antarctic scenery. Expect nothing less but spectacular tubular icebergs, a place where sea and sky are one, as well as incredible, almost otherworldly wildlife. In case you are wondering the Antarctic Sound is a body of water named by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition for the expedition ship 'Antarctic'. This was the first ship to navigate the Antarctic Sounds back in 1902. But of course, they were not alone as this area is inhabited by beautiful creatures such as - Brown Bluff Adelie, Gentoo Penguins, Kelp Gulls, Cape Petrels, Snow Petrels and Skuas.

Departure time to be confirmed.

Day 7 & 8:

Welcome to the Antarctica Peninsula, the northernmost part of mainland of Antarctica, located at the base of the Southern Hemisphere. Beneath the ice sheet, this Peninsula consists of a string of bedrock islands which are separated by deep channels. Still the highlight around here is more visible on the surface -  spectacular iceberg sculptures, calving glaciers, and the possibility of coming face to face with marine mammals or penguins. Visiting the Antarctic Peninsula is like visiting a different world, covered in pristine landscapes and remote wilderness.

Arrival and departure times to be confirmed.

Day 9:

To give continuity to your Antarctic expedition, on this day you will visit one of the most popular spots in this region, the South Shetland Islands. These are three small islands off northwest Robert Island that include 150-odd islets, skerries and rocks. Don't miss the Deception Island and its beautiful (and active) volcano, as well as  Smith Island’s Mt Foster which is the highest point on the entire archipelago. It is not by chance that these islands are frequently visited by scientists and tourists; this is the warmest part of the continent and it is also filled with Chinstrap, Adelie, Gentoo and Macaroni Penguins which all breed here. - In short, it is just beautiful.

Departure 11PM

Day 10 & 11:

Another two days crossing the Drake Passage; enjoy the beautiful deep blue sea and say goodbye to Antarctica and all its beautiful icebergs as they start to disappear over the horizon. Take advantage of your time on the ship to relax and try to spot all the creatures that you might not have seen on your previous crossing of the Drake Passage. Remember, at any time you could view; whales, dolphins, giant petrels, other petrels, albatrosses and penguins. Keep an eye out for them!

Day 12:

On your last day you will arrive at Ushuaia in Argentina at 6AM. It is an early start so make sure to gather up all necessary energy at breakfast. This resort town is located on the Tierra del Fuego archipelago and it's an absolute raw beauty. This area is also known as the “End of the World” due to its location on the southernmost tip of South America. It's a common gateway for Antarctica cruises and also very close to Isla Yecapasela (or “Penguin Island”) which is highly famous for its penguin colonies. Ushuaia is the perfect way to end this cruise – it is peaceful and beautiful.
